Open fits

“I sound like I'm talking in a barrel.” Has any clinician fitting hearing aids not heard those words? While wearers with low frequency hearing threshold levels greater than 40 dB are unlikely to be bothered by the occlusion effect, most clinicians will still see a great many patients who experience difficulties with occlusion.

While counselling is valuable in helping these patients adjust to the less positive aspects of their new hearing instruments, the ideal solution would be not to create those problems in the first place.

This would involve the seemingly simple solution of fitting hearing instruments without occluding the ear canal. Providing amplification without creating occlusion
offers the wearer a number of advantages; the most well-documented is better sound quality of the wearer's own voice. However, to achieve this, heavy demands are placed on the hearing instrument physically, electronically and acoustically.

More popular

Open fits are becoming more and more popular; as hearing aids are constantly improving on algorithms geared to achieve feedback-free, cosmetic-appealing fits;
whilst still ensuring sufficient usable gain. The pre-requisites of successful open fits:
Effective feedback suppression & super-fast processing speed.

All hearing instruments within the Danalogic i-FIT range contain tried & tested features that ensure the best possible open fitting results. This includes digital feedback suppression (DFS) & WARP fast processing.
